Aim of the risk management

The risk assessment contains:

• the determination of the necessity of lightning protection
• the definition of technical and economic protection measures in a optimal way
• the concluding determination of a remaining risk

Procedure:

• First to define the distribution of the protected object into several lightning protection zones (LPZ), the geometrical boundaries, relevant characteristic data, lightning threat data and considered types of damage.
  
• Based on it, the remaining risk is reduced by application (of further) protection measures until it falls below the value of an acceptable risk

Protected objects in this standard are only structures with the persons and the electrical and electronic systems (without services)
